Rooted’s Pre-K Program
At Rooted Christian Academy, our Kindergarten Readiness Pre-K program provides a well-rounded, rich and engaging classroom environment designed to prepare children academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually for a successful transition to kindergarten. Through purposeful play, structured learning, loving guidance, and a Christ-centered environment, students develop the knowledge, confidence, independence, and love of learning they need to enter kindergarten ready to thrive.
Our Pre-K teacher thoughtfully plans monthly themes that integrate hands-on learning experiences, art projects, music, literature, science exploration, Bible lessons, and interactive activities that make learning meaningful and fun. With a small class size, each child receives individualized attention, encouragement, and opportunities to grow in confidence, independence, and cooperation with others.
Students strengthen their early literacy skills by recognizing and identifying uppercase and lowercase letters, connecting letters with their corresponding sounds, writing and spelling their first name, and developing beginning phonemic-awareness skills. Children are also introduced to pre-primer sight words, story comprehension, rhyming, sequencing, and other foundational skills that support early reading success.
In mathematics, students develop number recognition and formation, counting and one-to-one correspondence, patterning, sorting, comparing quantities, and an understanding of basic shapes and measurement concepts. They also practice skip counting by 1s, 5s, and 10s and are introduced to simple addition and subtraction through hands-on activities.
Throughout the year, children strengthen essential classroom-readiness skills such as listening and following multi-step directions, completing tasks independently, participating in group learning, expressing their needs appropriately, and caring for their belongings. Proper pencil grip, correct scissor use, tracing, cutting, coloring, and other fine motor activities help prepare students for the physical demands of kindergarten.
